About Sarah
Sarah Russell graduated from Eckerd College with a BA in Visual Arts. Though the focus of her degree was in two dimensional art, Sarah found that she was very successful in applying her creative talents towards working with dogs. Prior to starting her own dog service company, she trained dogs for Paws and Possibilities- teaching group classes, Pet Therapy classes, puppy socialization, in home training and Board and Train immersion programs, and has worked as a veterinary technician, dog walker, and pet-sitter.
Her intuition and techniques aided her success in fostering and rehabilitating dogs with behavioral issues. In addition she was able to find permanent homes for the dogs and provided a framework to the owners to build a positive relationship with their new pets.
Sarah worked as an ortho-tech for an orthopeadic practice for nearly a decade. During which time she worked closely with patients on a one-on-one basis to council and assist with rehabilitation. She continues to use this experience and the communication skills it helped to develop when working with her current clients.
While developing her skills as a dog trainer, Sarah found herself particularly drawn to the unique language of dog socialization and behavior. In addition to teaching obedience, Sarah has a gift for helping dogs to achieve balance and find the right state of mind. Her ability to translate and teach the art of communication allows humans and their dogs to better understand one another. She has helped owners overcome many behavioral obstacles and taught them how to build better relationships with their dogs.
Sarah pursues continuing education by keeping up to date with the current industry literature, attending conferences, seminars, workshops and clinics with other trainers, and practice. Sarah is a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP) and a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluator. She and her dog, Cotton, passed the Pet Partners evaluation to become a therapy dog team. Sarah enjoys any time spent outside with her husband and children. You can often find her on the water, racing sailboats, with one of her three dogs.
